Sound Experience is a Puget Sound-based environmental and youth leadership organization that uniquely delivers its programs aboard the 133′ historic wooden schooner Adventuress. A nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization since 1989, we reach more than 4,000 young people and adults each year, inspiring in them a greater understanding of the complexity of our marine ecological systems and stronger commitment to the stewardship of our waters. Aboard Adventuress, on day or overnight programs, participants experience the majesty and vulnerability of Puget Sound – and why the future of our marine environment matters to all of us.

Environmental Sailing Voyages Aboard the Schooner Adventuress
Sound Experience provides hands-on environmental education and leadership experiences for all ages. On our voyages aboard the historic schooner Adventuress, participants learn about the majesty and vulnerability of our region’s definitive resource, Puget Sound.

The environmental message is emphasized by the ship herself. Adventuress is a metaphor for our planet: a closed system requiring understanding and care—which sails best when all aboard are working together. The leadership message is modeled by the crew, including volunteers, as they work and learn with participants.
